Working families in B.C. continue to have difficulty accessing affordable and quality childcare spaces.
With longer waiting lists for space, parents often turn to unregulated daycares. The B.C. Liberals have done nothing to help working families and mothers with childcare.
- Annual childcare fees now cost more than a university education.
- Only 27% of B.C.’s children under 5 have access to regulated spaces.
- Low wages mean high turnover and a shortage of skilled childcare workers.
Investments in childcare support early childhood learning and development, and new childcare spaces will also boost the the economy by giving mothers the opportunity to go back to work.
The B.C. Liberals have ignored childcare long enough.
